If It Was Easy, Everyone Would Do It
“If it was easy, everyone would do it”
It’s one thing saying it
It’s another thing backing it up
Especially when your alarm goes off at 2:45am Monday morning
Especially after a relaxing weekend, a few seltzers and a 4 hours kip
Thoughts that came to me as I stood in the shower the other day
Getting ready for my 3:20am taxi
For my 15hr - 6am flight
That’s what I thought to myself
Nothing worth doing comes easy
And not much that comes easy will give you a pay off
It’s true with relationships, businesses, and buying property
Yes, saving for a property is hard, knowing where to buy is hard, having discipline is hard
If it was easy, everyone would be doing it
If it was easy to spend quality face to face time with clients wherever they are, then everyone would do it
The reward?
Knowing you're helping people to do something hard and worthwhile
Knowing you're improving yourself
And, a lovely sunrise from the bathoom window at 6:35am
I was watching a piece of content in the week
Quite a controversial character
And the gent presenting was talking about how he finds that people fall into two categories
He uses ‘gaming speak’;
Those that are out there to play the game
To level up
To win
To defeat the ‘boss’ (whatever your boss may be)
To repeat
And those that he calls NPCs (non-player characters)
Those characters in a game that to not play a part in the main story
That follow loops
Glitch
Get stuck
Never progress
Many of them are very happy to be NPCs
Many are not, and are looking for ways to become the ‘main character’
We all start the game / life with;
No skills
No experience
No expertise that sets us apart
No way to add value or become the main character
But as we go through the quests of life, hone our craft and do hard things, we gain experience that other
people do not have
This then allows us to go out into the world and make our mark
But only if we are willing to sacrifice and do the hard stuff
Next thing we know we are taking on things we could never dream of
Property is the same
You start with no skills, but as you do progressively harder things, it all becomes easier
You level up
Things don't phase you
You take it in your stride
But - you must do the hard things to learn and gain the experience
Which character are you?
Think a friend would like this? Forward it their way.
Have a great weekend ahead,
Callum
